Welcome to my latest trip report which covers a 3-day trip I took to Los Angeles in 2016 and had the chance to tick many things on my “Must See in Los Angeles” list.
Los Angeles is a city that evokes quite divisive opinions from those who have visited. It is very much a love it or hate it kind of place. While I fall into the former section, I have many close friends who would happily never step foot in Los Angeles or the surrounding area ever again.
As a general rule, I try to stay in AirBnBs (or HomeAway/Stayz) if I am going to be in the same location for three nights or more. I find that any less, hotels are the better option as they provide more flexible check in and check out times. When I'm looking to book a hotel, I usually compare the rooms available on Rocketmiles, Agoda and Booking.com to determine which option provides the best points-earning opportunity.

That said, hotels usually look the same in most cities and I am always on the lookout for quirky AirBnB listings – like that one time I stayed in a Treehouse in Austin, Texas.
For this stay, I ended up booking a castle in the Hollywood Hills.
